The Team

At Physio 1st we take pride in our client centred approach, providing a friendly and accessible, professional service. Our clinicians are all highly qualified, chartered and state registered Physiotherapists that have trained with some of the profession’s leading experts.

 

Peter Grinbergs


Peter has his roots in high-level sport. He gained experience at Birmingham City Football Club, working with academy and first team players. Currently he works with many professional athletes from various disciplines – including rugby, cricket, golf and athletics. With considerable experience in the onset and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, Peter’s has developed a special interest in disorders of the back and shoulders and how body mechanics affect technique.

Daniel Taylor


Daniel also began his career at Birmingham City Football club in 2003. Initially he was responsible for the treatment and management of injuries for academy players. He was quickly promoted to reserve team physio and then again to first team physio in 2005. Working with elite athletes in this high-pressure environment enabled Daniel to develop a broad experience of effective treatment approaches and diagnostic skills.

Alex Jones

I have been working for Physio 1st for just over 2 years and have developed a special interest in treating a variety of sporting injuries, treating clients from professional golfers to international track and field athletes.

 

My interest in physiotherapy started when I was competing nationally in the decathlon where I spent a lot of time in the treatment room! I have also played semi-professional football and county level rugby. Now, I focus my sporting time on enjoying the golf course and striving to provide fast, effective rehabilitation to elite athletes to ensure they can stay at the top of their game.

Tim Russell

Always being a keen sportsman; enjoying golf, cricket and football, I was keen to follow a sporting career.  Starting work in gyms I quickly progressed and got into sports massage and took an interest in the body and how to heal it.  Studying at the University of East London I obtained my physiotherapy degree.  I have a range of NHS experience but sports and muskeletal injuries has always been my main interest. 

Patricia McCarthy

‘Patricia graduated with first class honours from Coventry University in 2010. With international experience in Irish basketball and athletics she has a keen interest in musculoskeletal injuries and sports rehabilitation. She has worked with athletes from a variety of sports including basketball, rugby, football, athletics and hurling. Since graduating she has completed a variety of courses in sports taping, sports massage, functional movement and an introduction to the use of the Alexander technique in sport, enabling development of a broad spectrum of effective treatment approaches.’

Tom Hampton

Since graduating from the University of Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, Tom has specialised in the field of musculoskeletal medicine. Before joining the Physio 1st team, Tom provided a top class physiotherapy service for local GP surgeries, treating a wide range of pathologies, and showing a special interest in the management of sporting and spinal injuries.

Jonathan Price

Jon graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. He has developed a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries to all areas of the body particularly the lower back and neck. Jon is currently leading various research projects into physiotherapy treatment methods ensuring that the clients at Physio 1st receive the most up to date and effective treatment.

Emily Beckett

I have been a competitive swimmer from a young age and went on to become a qualified swimming instructor. At university I took up water polo and played for the University and a local club. I am also a keen climber and enjoy running. Due to my interest in sports, when I graduated from the University of Birmingham I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy with a particular interest in sporting injuries, gaining experience doing pitch-side work for a local football team.

Kieran McMahon

My enthusiasm for physiotherapy developed in my youth when finding myself sitting in a clinic every other week through rugby! After three years of studying at the University of Birmingham, I have developed an interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, particularly personal injury and sports rehabilitation. My main focus is to help assist the growth and development of youth and amateur sports clubs of all levels by keeping their players fit and helping those who are injured back to a full and speedy recovery.

Rebecca Nicholson

My training at the University of Birmingham confirmed my ambition to specialize in musculoskeletal soft tissue and joint related injuries. During my training and since qualifying I have pursued this through various opportunities, working with rugby clubs, football clubs and volunteer work abroad.  Since beginning work for Physio 1st in 2011 I have continued to develop my interest and expertise in Sports Related Injuries. Due to my own sporting background I have a keen interest in Martial arts and running related injuries.

Emma Lamph

My name is Emma Lamph I am a qualified Physiotherapist both HPC and CSP registered. I have previously completed a BSc Sport Studies degree and worked as a fitness Instructor and within the health care sector for many years. Before going onto complete a BSc Physiotherapy degree at Salford University. I am physically active and enjoy attending the gym and doing outdoor pursuits. I am interested in musculoskeletal physiotherapy as I am passionate about the challenge of finding the injured site and solving the problem. I get a great satisfaction in achieving goals set out for both myself and my patients.

Jalia Mugambwa

I went to King’s College London University where I achieved a 2.1 Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) and am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I have a keen interest in Neurological and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and hope in the near future to complete a Masters degree in Neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy.

 

I have a matwork 1 Pilates qualification and hope to complete the other two levels. I also have an interest in acupuncture and hope to complete a course in order to use it as a treatment modality.

Jonathon Durham

I am an HPC and CSP registered Physiotherapist and member of the ACPSM. My interest in Physiotherapy developed from a series of sporting injuries I experienced throughout group sport. Since qualifying with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree in 2011 I have developed a strong interest in musckulo-skeletal management and sports rehabilitation working with both junior and senior sportsmen and women from a variety of sports including swimmers, footballers, rugby players and athletes; providing sport specific rehabilitation to facilitate a safe and confident return to sport.

Rosannah Hutchings

I qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Birmingham with a First Class Honours degree. My special interest lies in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, having personally suffered a series of knee injuries derived from my tennis playing background. I trained in sports first aid and have previously worked alongside professional sport teams. I am also a certified LTA tennis coach and enjoy drama and theatre.

Alys-Catrin Morgan

Coming from a sporting background, I have always been interested in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. In my youth I represented Surrey at both Athletics and Cross Country and more recently, I have enjoyed the team sports of both Hockey and Lacrosse. After three years studying at the University of Birmingham I developed an interest in sports rehabilitation and personal injury. At the weekend I pursues her love of sport, and have established myself as the pitch-side physiotherapist for my local Rugby Club.
